The campground is nice. The managers, Leon & Carol Clark, are wonderful people. However, during my stay I slipped on one of their wooden decks and sustained an avulsion laceration to my right lower leg. I was transported via EMS to the hospital where I received approximately 30 stitches and have been out of work four weeks, with another week or two more before I'll be able to return. This was not a "cut" but a laceration where my leg looked like it had exploded, leaving adipose tissue and blood on the steps, the deck, and even on my shoes. Once I was home I emailed the corporate office to inform them of the accident and to see if they would be willing to help pay the medical expenses (only what my insurance didn't cover) but they politely refused, stating they had no control over rain or leaves on a deck and so therefore they were not liable. They also said they were always sorry to hear of any of their guests having an accident at one of their parks and they hoped I healed quickly. Kind of makes you wonder just how many accidents they have had at their resorts and refused to help the injured party. You would think they would at least have Med Pay on their campground insurance policy but if they do they don't offer the assistance. So, if you decide to stay at a Carefree RV Resort, please be careful, watch your step, and don't expect any help from them if something happens. As I stated above, the managers, Leon and Carol, are wonderful people. In fact, Carol sat and held my hand until EMS arrived. Her concern was true and heartfelt. It's unfortunate the owners of the campground aren't made of the same stuff. My daughter is in college at WCU for the next 3.5 years and I was looking forward to staying in the campground when visiting but now I'll bypass that and stay in a hotel. Since Carefree Resorts Corporation has shown how little it cares for the safety of it's guests I don't believe I could ever give them any more of my business.
Relaxing and quiet park
Convenient to WCU.
We stayed there for 4 nights and we were judged and harassed over a number of things. there were no no smoking signs in the pool area and in the campfire area whitch bowes my mindbecause i have never been turned away from a smokey campfire for smoking. Also we just got done swimming and we needed ice so we went in to the laundry room "the back entrance"and we grabbed 2 bags of ice and the lady told us that we needed to walk all the way back over to our campsite way across the campground to go change and then come back and grabour ice because we were tracking water in the laundry room, alot of things could have gone different like offering to give us the ice outside, or signs being posted but she was just being meen not helpful.
Great place to camp
