It has been three times now that I have gone in there where the air conditioning is not on and they have floor fans and ceiling fans on full blast. After waiting 45 minutes for my dinner, the not so famous surf and turf, I almost requested a chain saw to cut through the sirloin. The grouper was good however. My waitress almost forgot that I had a salad coming and I started giving names to the flying insects on my table as I pondered a move to Wendy's. Anyway.. they better get their act together.. or just get out.
We love Lulu's! The staff is always super friendly and the food is fantastic. We eat here pretty regularly and I almost always get the southwestern salad. I tend to be picky about restaurant salads and these are the best in the area. They are huge and the house made dressing are wonderful. They have a local seasonal rotating menu which means you may walk in and have to find a new favorite dish but what a fun adventure that can be! The salads stay the same and they always seem to have their pitas, hello fungi with pesto and goat cheese, along with a few other constants like the noodle bowls which my husband loves. They have daily specials on an outside board that don't usually appear on the menu, a mammoth list of beer and wine and outdoor seating where pets are allowed. They have two single unit unisex bathrooms and lots of local funky art on the walls you can buy. The place is so comfortable and makes a great gathering spot.
I found the place to be below average, the wait staff were good so no complaints there. The first thing we ordered was the French onion soup, it felt as if we were eating liquid fat and the presentation wasn't as good as it was easy to tell the Swiss cheese crust was just a slice of cheese microwaved. We then ordered the Lulu burger and the Crabby Patty, the Lulu burger was understated, overly greasy and the bread soggy. The Crabby Patty was mostly tasteless. The place has a nice atmosphere and good staff, the food is lacking though and that's why we won't probably come back.
We have been coming to Lulu's for over 10 yrs. Lulu's always has a great, healthy choice for lunch that doesnt leave you feeling sluggish the rest of the day.
Lulu's is the perfect spot for a dinner date or just a quick lunch break. I have been here a couple of times and I keep coming back for the crab cake sandwich! It is one of the best I've had anywhere... Nice quite atmosphere and very affordable for what you get. Give Lulu's a try!
